This composition is born from a rare and profound feeling: gratitude. Amid the unexpected circumstances of life, I encountered incredible students who transformed me into a better person.I chose the folk genre for its lightness and simplicity—qualities that sincerely express the serene joy these encounters awakened in me. Like folk melodies, this feeling is neither complex nor turbulent—it is clear, direct, and genuine, like a smile that needs no explanation.I wrote this piece for a soprano recorder quartet, seeking soft and luminous timbres that would represent the delicacy of this bond. More than a statement, this work is an expression of thanks: for having had the opportunity to meet people who have marked my life in such a meaningful way.I feel honored to have been the music teacher of these very special individuals, to have shared with them a part of what also gives meaning to my life: music. Perhaps that was the role I was meant to play—to contribute, even if briefly, to their journey.
