Composed by Erik Satie. Arranged by Brian Streckfus. This edition: audio, pdf, streaming. 20th Century, Classical, Instructional, Romantic Period. Individual part. 5 pages. Brian Streckfus #756774. Published by Brian Streckfus (A0.1156456).

IMPORTANT NOTE: You get both tablature version and sheet music version in one 5 page PDF! Hopefully this makes these arrangements all-inclusive for different purposes and skill levels. Just be careful with your printer settings if you don't want two versions!

History:
This piece was composed in 1890. The term "Gnossienne" is unique to Satie, likely inspired by the word "Gnosis," which means mystical knowledge. The piece is characterized by it's lack of time signatures and bar lines, giving it a free and flowing feel. The piece is minimalist, with repetitive, haunting melodies and a meditative quality.

Features:
1.
Arranged for guitar
2. Tablature added
3. Measures and times signature removed reflecting the original composer's ethos.
4. Form simplified so that the piece fits on three pages. D.S. in retrograde is a strange navigation indication, but it seems the most elegant way to save a lot of paper and ink.
5. Slurs added.
6. Some left hand fingerings added. I didn't want to add too many to the point where it becomes cumbersome or confusing.

Tips:
1. D.S. in retrograde is a unique navigation indication that I created. It's strange, but it saves an immense amout of space/paper, and prevents a page turn from being neccessary.
2. One flaw with a piece with no measures or time signature is that the multi-voice rhythms can be difficult to make clear. Make sure your counting carefully. Make sure not to confuse the voices; they get their own rhythmic line.
