By Ray Charles. By Hoagy Carmichael. Arranged by Joseph M. Chopp. R & B,Soul. Score and parts. 16 pages. JOSEPH M CHOPP #4582363. Published by JOSEPH M CHOPP (A0.924442). "Georgia on My Mind" is a 1930 song written by Hoagy Carmichael and Stuart Gorrell. It is one of the most-recorded American songs of all time.
Every instrument has a solo part of the melody with a fun/surprise entrance of "Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho" from the trombone that fits in perfectly. The flowing harmonies offer the ensemble the opportunity to really listen and blend everything together. Both players and the audience will hear, maybe for the first time, the actual introduction that Carmichael wrote for the main melody we all know as "Georgia On My Mind."
Playing time = 2.5 minutes
