The Fugue in C major of Bach's Well-tempered Clavier is a pleasant piece, naturally adaptable to string quartet because the fugue has four voices consistently. There is a building excitement in the piece as the parts enter with the theme closer and closer together. There are no dynamic markings in this piece, so you have a blank slate of interpretive gestures to enjoy exploring.
