Detailed Description
SATB choir, optional piano
SKU: EC.5882
Composed by Louis Reichwein. 20th Century. Octavo. Duration 2 minutes, 30 seconds. E.C. Schirmer Publishing #5882. Published by E.C. Schirmer Publishing (EC.5882).UPC: 600313458828. Text: Slave Songs of the US (1867).
To music in a lilting 6/8, the text describes a ball, which, despite being held in a barn, was so grand that even the horses were astonished. Along with the recurring phrase, “Dance, Calinda,” the chorus sings “boudoum” as a musical accompaniment. An optional piano part is provided (it is not mere doubling.) There is no divisi in this movement, and the music is enchanting and approachable.
