Composed by Edward Elgar. Arranged by Kim Diehnelt. Concert,Holiday,Romantic Period,Standards,Wedding. 13 pages. Kim Diehnelt #6735433. Published by Kim Diehnelt (A0.809083).

This is a string quartet arrangement of the "Canto Popolare" section of Edward Elgar’s orchestral tone-poem In the South, Op. 50. This beautiful and flowing section of In the South features a solo viola "singing" a tune considered to suggest a Neapolitan love song.

This arrangement strives to capture the richness of melody, color, and expressive warmth as found in the original work. It is based mostly on the orchestral version but incorporates the closing section from Elgar’s own version for viola and piano.

"Canto Popolare" makes a good addition to the repertoire for weddings or special occasions.
