By David Cook. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Matthew Naughtin. 20th Century,Pop,Rock. 18 pages. Matthew Naughtin #992840. Published by Matthew Naughtin (A0.1410424).

In the 1960s Paul McCartney's girlfriend Jane Asher got him interested in the music of Antonio Vivaldi. This led to the inspiration of having the accompaniment to "Eleanor Rigby" played by a string octet when the song was recorded for the Beatles' 1966 album Revolver. It was a sharp break, both in the music and the words, from the current conventions of pop music, and proved to be a milestone in the Beatles transformation from a pop/rock stage act to the experimental, recording-oriented band of their later years. This arrangement preserves the intimate, melancholy flavor of the original recording.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
