Moto Perpetuo is a single movement work for solo Violin with Piano accompaniment. It was written by the British composer Edward German, and first published in 1890, while he was musical director of theGlobe Theatre in London.

Edward German was an English musician and composer of Welsh descent, best remembered for his extensive output of incidental music for the stage and as a successor to Arthur Sullivan in thefield of English comic opera. While French influences are clearly apparent in his music, German was said to be a ‘stylistic cosmopolitan who wrote music that is quintessentially English’ (David Russell Hulme).
