Published by Phil Beaman (A0.844473).A new setting of the beloved Gibbons/Fletcher motet Drop, Drop Slow Tears. I have created a completely new harmonization that is a bit more melancholic and more rich harmonically. I made a few subtle alterations of the original melody to introduce a couple of minor intervals. But throughout I tried to maintain the beautiful dignity of the original work.
The 3 verses are based on the story in Luke 7:38 and the piece is often used as a devotional reflection.
