Don't Blame Me" is a popular Great American Standard used by pop and jazz musicians alike with music by Jimmy McHugh and lyrics by Dorothy Fields. The song was part of the 1932 show Clowns in Clover and was published in 1933. It would be an interesting teaching lesson if directors asked students to compare and contrast any traditional version with the more current Taylor Swift song with the same title. This arrangement will require students to switch back and forth between a straight eight-note Latin feel and the traditional jazz swing feel . There are 32 bars reserved for open improvisation but a written-out jazz violin suggested solo is provided. A Vioin 3 Substitute for Viola part is included to strengthen the Viola section.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
