"Dog Days" is a marching snare ensemble for 4 intermediate-level percussionists. With proper effects and musicality, the runtime of the piece should range from 1:00-1:30.
This piece takes inspiration from the works of Tom Rarrick and a modern take on a marching snare adaptation of traditional South American grooves. Musicians will be tested to show case a great form of communication and coordination throughout the line. At about the middle of the piece, Snare drum 3 will take the lead on a tuplet-filled segment that will test the timing of the line.
From the composer, Ziah Poston. "I wrote this piece in a 12 hour writing session from start to finish while listening to Heather by Conan Gray on repeat. I learned that when you have a spark of creativity, you cease the moment. And thats how you can create your best work."
