Joseph Weigl's Die Schweizerfamilie (The Swiss Family) is one of the best-loved operas of the 19th century. Although the music of the opera continues to enthrall, it has sadly all but disappeared from the stage. In the archive of the Aschaffenburg music library is an arrangement by Weigl's contemporary F. Brand of almost the entire opera for flute and guitar. This edition contains a selection of these pieces with which to rediscover this wonderfully lyrical music.
