Chamber Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download
Composed by Johann Strauss Jr. Arranged by Gianmaria Griglio. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 92 pages. Gianmaria Griglio #4988065. Published by Gianmaria Griglio (A0.927844).
The Gypsy Baron (German: Der Zigeunerbaron) is an operetta in three acts by Johann Strauss II which premiered at the Theater an der Wien on 24 October 1885. During the composer's lifetime, the operetta enjoyed great success, second only to the popularity of Die Fledermaus (The bat).
The Ouverture is a very popular piece, often performed during concerts but it normally requires large orchestral forces: hence the present arrangement, which only requires 1 flute, 1 oboe, 1 clarinet, 1 bassoon, 1 horn, 2 percussion players, and strings.
P.S.: if you want to listen to a beautiful performance of this Ouverture check out the Vienna Philharmonic with Carlos Kleiber. It's absolutely brilliant!
