From the Opera Le Roi malgré lui. Composed by Alexis Emmanuel Chabrier. Arranged by Andre Bodin. Baton Music orchestral series. Full Score and set of parts. Baton Music #BM1006-SET. Published by Baton Music (BF.BM1006-SET).Emmanuel Chabrier's opera-comique 'Le Roi malgré lui' debuted at the Opéra-Comique in 1887. The opera was well received, although the librettists were booed at the première. The music was praised and several selections were encored. Two orchestral extracts from the opera have from time to time found their way onto concert programmes and recordings : the 'Fête polonaise' and the 'Danse slave'. Dutch arranger Andre Bodin transcribed the 'Danse slave', the beginning of 2nd act of the Opera, for Symphonic Band.
