This is a beautiful old carol dating from the mid to late 1500's. It is a great example of the "Picardy third" where a minor song ends with the major. A very flexible arrangement for strings that can be played solo for any string, or with any combination of instruments for an ensemble. This comes from Coventry where it was included in a mystery play.
