For Symphonic Band. Composed by Yoshio Nakahashi. Concert & Festival. Score & parts. Bravo Music #Z-YDON-C12S. Published by Bravo Music (BZ.Z-YDON-C12S).This "Cloudy" refers to the five-colored clouds in Buddhist tradition that are considered a harbinger of good fortune. The sight of these clouds changing colors as they are illuminated by the sun can be likened to the activities of a school band, where members change over time, each bringing their brilliance. A wish is embedded in it that they, like the iridescent clouds overlapping in spirals, each with its direction, they will come together and move toward a bright future.
The composition is structured around four motifs, each derived from the names of the commissioning organization and the conductor, transformed into musical sequences through a certain process. At the request of the commissioners, the piece is positioned as a sister work that shares its worldview and development method with two earlier works, "Shinato no Jyakuso" (Blessed Promising Future) and "Kodama Suru Toki no Kyokoku" (The Canyon in Temporal Echoes).
Commissioned by the Meijo High School Band in 2012 under the direction of Akihiro Onogawa, it was premiered by the Meiji High School Band Queenstar at the Welcome Concert of the JAPAN BAND CLINIC held in Hamamatsu City on May 11, 2012.
