A UNUSUAL transcription of the famous prelude from the Te Deum.

The score is a transcription of Charpentier's original so that all instruments have different clefs.

Violin 1 has "French Violin clef) lowest line is G

Violin 2 has soprano clef (lowest line is middle C) - original haute-contra part

Viola has mezzo soprano clef ((2nd line is middel C) - original tailles part

Cello has standard bass F clef.

The score is provided for historical interest as are copies of the the parts with old clefs.( and if you wish to attempt playing them!!

There are also standard string quartet parts using modern treble, alto and bass clefs and a standard modern score

After the work's rediscovery in 1953 by French musicologist Carl de Nys, the instrumental prelude, Marche en rondeau, was chosen in 1954 as the theme music preceding the Eurovision network broadcasts of the European Broadcasting Union.After over sixty years of use notably before EBU programs such as the popular Eurovision Song Contest and Jeux Sans Frontières, the prelude, as arranged by Guy Lambert and directed by Louis Martini, has become Charpentier's best-known work..
