You’ll know it as The Teddy Bears’ Picnic, but this is the piano piece, written long before lyrics and a title were added. The lyrics are still in copyright, and so is the title, even if the arrangement has no words.
And that’s why the Public Domain title is probably a complete unknown to you.
My arrangement is based on a piano score published in 1907 and is faithful both to the key of the original and to the harmony and stylistic patterns that make the piece so distinctive and fun.
Guitar 1 and Guitar 2 take it in turns to share the tune - the tune is always marked in the score as being slightly louder than the other guitar parts. Guitar 3 and Guitar 4 share the chord accompaniment and again swap roles at many of the phrase boundaries. (I also have a duet version on sale here which is more complex but ideal for an experienced duo)
The music comprises the opening Theme (which you can hear on the soundclip on the SMP website) and the Trio. Although the original music is not marked with a DC, such a repeat would make for an even more substantial concert item.
The dynamics match those in the piano original, but any energetic alternative will work!
There is no fingering. Much is obvious and much of the piece fits well in the first position. Where a choice of positions is possible, each player will probably have their own preference.
