It employs Turkish rhythms in a 9/8 meter divided into four beats (2+2+2+3) and the Nikriz scale (a Turkish modal system), juxtaposed with “Western” orchestration. The piece follows a free-form structure. The name “Çelişki” reflects the interplay of many superimposed “quadri,” which seek to converge as the performance unfolds.
