This is a lullaby carol in triple meter with a lovely, sweet melody. It has a simple, approachable construction: first verse SA, second TB, third SATB. The fourth verse has a bit of back and forth between treble and bass sections and the piece ends quite simply, in unison. With the addition of the optional violin part or the Chamber Ensemble instrumentation, this is an effective, moving anthem for any size choir.
