Published by Boumpani Music Publishing (A0.1536653).This is a first-year band work featuring percussion that is playable once the band knows the Bb concert scale. The clarinets do not go over the break. Rhythmically there are quarter note-eighth note combinations; however, there are no eighth rests. The melody is simple, yet catchy, and the harmonic combinations are varied. The easiest parts are the Trumpet and French Horn parts, with the low brass more challenging because the parts span the entire range of the Bb scale.
Some differences between this work and other first-year works:
1. The Flute part does not simply double the Clarinet 1 part at the octave. Some simple, yet effective counterpoint between the two parts adds musical interest for both the players and audience.
2. The Alto Saxophone part is not a simple double of the F Horn part, and the Tenor Sax part is not a double of the Trombone/Baritone part.
3. Although there are 8 percussion parts included, the piece can be performed by as few as 3 performers. More information is included in the score.
