SKU: A0.581993

Composed by Sigfrid Karg-Elert. Arranged by John Gibson. This edition: audio, pdf. 20th Century, Contemporary, Instructional. Individual part. 40 pages. JB Linear #3885595. Published by JB Linear (A0.581993).

Sigfrid Karg-Elert (1877 – 1933) was an instructor of music theory and composition at the Leipzig Conservatory. He wrote his 30 Caprices for a flautist friend in 1918 and they have since become standard etudes for flute students. With some editing as to range and technical issues arising between the flute and the clarinet, they also work well for clarinet. There were three caprices omitted in this edition since they were unsuitable for clarinet (#18, 23, 28). The clarinetist will find these caprices challenging and instructive.

One should note that the convention of accidentals only effecting the note in the octave in which it is first played is usually marked in this edition, and the player should be aware that this is the case throughout. - John Gibson, editor
