The text of this octavo is attributed to St. Francis of Assisi. Sr. Theophane wrote this composition for the 75th anniversary of the School Sisters of St. Francis (1949). The recording was made at St. Joseph Convent in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by the resident sisters' choir -- The Chapel Singers. The sisters continue to sing this piece as a closing hymn at major community celebrations. It had been taught to them during their formation years. It is customarily followed by an organ postlude -- "Tribute" by Sr. Mary Hueller OSF (Maurelia) which is based on the Canticle. This SSAATTBB arrangement is a previously unpublished manuscript found in the congregation's archives. A recording of the mixed choir version is not yet available.
