sits a dusty old case
worn from years of use
its contents are just as
battered as the case
once silver keys tarnished
once beautiful wood scratched
cracked almost beyond repair
once long ago it could
play high enough to make
even the birds jealous
now it just sits
untouched, in its case
un-played, falling apart
uncared for, needing major repairs
unloved, a part of one’s history
