Part of my ongoing series of music by famous composers for brass, this delightful little piece is not often played at all but worthy of a place on any quintet programme with it's more famous bretheren. It is one of his Songs Without Words, scored here for brass quintet. The title "A Consolation" gives you an idea of the gentle mood of the piece.
