Published by Don Carlson Music (A0.648717).A fantasy on themes from Beethoven's 5th and 7th Symphonies as well as his "Moonlight" Sonata arranged for Marching Band. This arrangement begins with the most recognizable motif in all of classical music the 5th Symphony 1st mvt. Allegro con brio. It sustains it's energy from the 3rd mvt. Presto agitato of Beethoven's "Moonlight" Sonata and gains the power and drama from the 7th Symphony 2nd mvt. Alllegretto. We hear a brief transition from "Pathetique" Sonata Allegro di molto e con brio to the mournful "Moonlight" Sonata 1st mvt. Adagio sostenuto which is probably the most recognizable piano composition of the great composer. The piece concludes with the dynamic restatement of the Allegro di molto e con brio from the "Pathetique" Sonata. Although originally created as an opener it would also make a powerful closer to a field show honoring the great Ludwig van Beethoven. This exciting arrangement of three of Beethoven's most recognizable compositions is a medium difficulty level but playable by smaller bands. The Alto sax parts support the F Horn and Trumpet parts, the Tenor sax parts support the Trombone 1-2/Euphonium parts, and you may use the mallet/pit percussion in any combination. The Battery parts have a Quint part (easily adaptable to Quad) and 5 Bass drum parts easily adaptable to 4 Bass Drums. I have included optional Bass Clarinet, Bari Sax, Bb and Eb Horn, and Electric Bass parts. I hope you enjoy performing Beethoven's Fantasy as much as I enjoyed arranging it. Thanks, Don.
