William Ferris was a composer for whom writing music was a labor of love. He believed that music written for the Church should have the same integrity of form and substance as a concert work. In addition, it should contain the necessary spiritual qualities to influence the assembly toward prayer and to raising its voice in songs of thanks and praise. Be with Me, Lord was made on location at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Chicago. Most of this music was written for the William Ferris Chorale and performed during liturgies or concerts in that wonderful sacred place. All the pieces on the recording are available in octavo format, individually or in the music collection. In the words of the composer, "It is my fond hope that you will find plenty of good listening here, but most importantly, I hope that these settings will touch your spirit and inspire you to prayer.".
