Composed by Franz von Suppe. Arranged by Albert Schwarzmann. This edition: audio, pdf. Romantic Period. 203 pages. Edition Schwalbe #6500211. Published by Edition Schwalbe (A0.1021845).

Franz von Suppéwas a typical child of the multiethic Austrian.Hungarian monarchy with Italian, Dalmatian and Viennese ancestors. His full name was Francesco Ezechiele Ermenegildo de Suppè. He is regarded as father of the Viennese operetta. As he very often composed on bad quality librettos, most of his operettas nowadays are no more performed on stage. But many of his overtures and melodies are still popular, like this overture to the operetta "Banditenstreiche" (The Jolly Robbers or Bandits' Pranks), which was first performed in Vienna in April 1867. This transcription was commissioned by Wind Philharmonic Mozarteum Salzburg. A live recording of this piece is included on the CD "Kristalle der Musik" UMR50, Barcode 9120007611908 available at https://naxosdirekt.de/items/kristalle-der-musik-557964
