I wanted to take the opportunity, with an unusual combination of instruments, to write in a style these instruments might not often get to play. The incorporation of jazz in combination with more traditional harmonies I think creates an interesting experience for this small chamber ensemble. It could work nicely for a group of friends looking for a piece to play together, and could be used on a recital. There are a few moments of vocalization, which could be enjoyable for students.
