Composed by Anton Biebl. Arranged by Robert Kalwas. German 20th century. Score and parts. Cherry Classics #CC2744. Published by Cherry Classics (CY.CC2744).

Ave Maria was composed in 1964 and is one of the most beautiful works for choral ensemble from the 20th century. It was written for a local German fireman's choir by one of his parish's singers who's profession was as a firefighter. The work languished for years but was discovered by a touring American choir who brought it back to the USA and recorded it. It became an instant hit.

The music has a heavenly feel to it and one is uplifted by its sheer beauty.

This 7-minute arrangement by Robert Kalwas is for 8-part Trombone ensemble and of moderate difficulty. All parts are in bass clef and the ranges are not extreme at all.

Ave Maria is featured on YouTube as a "Virtual Choir International Multitrack" for a Children's Charity in South Africa.

Cherry Classics is pleased to have approval for this arrangement from the estate of Franz Biebl.
