Composed by Erik Satie. Arranged by Steven Paxton. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical. 32 pages. Creative Spirit #976030. Published by Creative Spirit (A0.1392507).Originally composed for solo piano by Erik Satie in 1915. Satie filled these three miniatures with non-standard performance instructions, satiric barbs and modernist prose, scattered about on a carefully, expertly fashioned musical structure of experimental harmonies, strangely static rhythms, and radically miniaturized forms. He seemed to be using his musical scores as his “social media, “trolling” the musical establishment. This is particularly the case with Avant–Dernières Penseés, as well as with Les trois valses distinguées du précieux dégoûté (also published by Creative Spirit in a transcription for woodwind quintet).
TOTAL DURATION: about 3–1/2 minutes.
