Refreshing morning breeze through a clear sky, the pleasant midday wind in warm sunlight, a cool and melancholic breeze at twilight, and the chilly and unsettling night wind: I composed this piece envisioning various winds of autumn. The piece opens with a lively and restless melody in the first theme, evoking a sense of beginning. The second theme has a calm and warm atmosphere, almost like singing. In the development section, these themes are elaborated upon with an eerie ambiance reminiscent of Halloween. Following this, the recapitulation reintroduces the first theme and transitions to the modulated second theme. The tempo slows down, and after a recapitulation of the introduction, the composition concludes with an up tempo, refreshing finale. A motif from the first half is interwoven throughout, encouraging performers to enjoy seeking it out and playing with it. Additionally, I consciously composed this piece in sonata form. Being familiar with various works in sonata form might help you enjoy this piece even better. This was originally composed in 2013 for flute, oboe, and clarinet trio and was adapted to flexible ensemble for this publication. Please perform emphasizing characteristics of each instrument and ensemble values.
