Hayao Miyazaki’s film The Boy and the Heron won the Oscar for best animated film at the 2024 Academy Awards. Joe Hisaishi’s enchanting score which perfectly sets the magical tone of the film garnered not only an Oscar nomination but also numerous other awards. The touching main theme of the score, “Ask Me Why,” reappears throughout the film. L. C. Harnsberger has beautifully adapted this music for full orchestra while keeping the spirit of the original soundtrack. This piece is ideal to combine with Harnsberger’s dramatic arrangement of Hisaishi’s “The Great Collapse” from the same film (LCH Music #12402).
