Of course the mountain yeti should have an anthem—a call to the wild forest, icy streams, and towering cliffs. The signature yeti call in the trombone and horn sections fires the imagination and carries on the mystery of the mountain yeti.Most quarter and eighth notes should tend toward staccato rather than legato. At m. 21, the half notes should be played as legato as possible with the contrasting shorter eighth notes in the accompaniment. Also, at m. 21, the bell part has a repeating six-note pattern, allowing students to memorize this pattern.In the trombone and horn glissandi (m. 8), the crescendo only goes to a forte dynamic and should not overpower the rest of the band. Additionally, the glissandi should be in rhythm with a half note at the top and not held over. When pitches are indicated with X noteheads, students may start from a random low note and glissando to a random high note. It should sound atonal and a little chaotic, just like a yeti.
