Anthem of the Butterflies is a military march structured in the classic form made famous by John Philip Sousa. It begins with a fanfare, and plays through two different themes. Later, we are introduced to the "trio". This is typically the theme for which a march is known. We then are brought into a minor key with what is known as "dogfight" section. This features the lower and higher instruments aggressively playing their contrary themes, before being brought back into the trio. This time, however, a new countermelody is playing, and all other parts are playing softer to feature the new theme. Afterwards, the dogfight section plays again, leading to the final trio, where all parts are playing loud and proud.

This particular march, "Anthem of the Butterflies", sounds about as one might expect from the title. It is grand and magnificent, but also quite cute and fluttery at times. The composer of this piece, American-born Samuel T. Owens (b. 2000), was inspired by marches such as "The Liberty Bell" by John Philip Sousa, and "Americans We" by Henry Fillmore.

Performance time: ca. 3'30".
