Albert Parlow war ein preußischer Musikdirektor, der einige Märsche komponierte. Die beliebte Amboss-Polka, die ihn weltberühmt machte, entstand dabei eher aus Zufall.
Vielleicht waren die Trompeten verrostet, oder die Ventile der Posaunen klemmten. Oder die Bläser hatten überhaupt über den Durst getrunken (was ja bekanntlich außerordentlich selten vorkommt - Kurzwitz: gehen zwei Musikanten an einem Wirtshaus vorbei) und konnten nicht mehr blasen.
Jedenfalls setzte Parlow den Amboss als ungewöhnliches Soloinstrument ein, was normale Musikerinnen aus verständlichen Gründen nicht tun können. Glücklicherweise gibt es dieses Stück jetzt auch in einer Version für Klavier, leicht gesetzt.
Warum Lilypond? Die modernen, mit Computerprogrammen gesetzten Noten wirken irgendwie steril. Lilypond bringt die Ästhetik der historischen Notendruckkunst auf den Computer.
