Jahrhundert thematisierte. Das Symposion wurde von der Uberlegung aus konzipiert, dass die Vorstellungen und Auffassungen von Alter Musik in einem Prozess hineingezogen sind und aus ihm erwachsen.Die Referate greifen paradigmatisch den skizzierten Diskussionszusammenhang auf und dienen - neben der Klarung von Sachproblemen - auch der Verstandigung unter Musikhistorikern. Dass solche Verstandigung keinesfalls abstrakt oder theoretisch bleibt, sondern unmittelbar das Musikleben beruhrt, beweisen die Referate, die Robert Hill und Michael Schneider als Vertreter historischer Auffuhrungspraxis beisteuert.
