Set in occupied France during the Second World War, the storyline follows the escapades of a French cafe owner in a small town. It features Gordon Kaye as René, Carmen Silvera as Edith, his wife, along with Guy Siner as Lt. Gruber, and the hilarious Richard Gibson as Herr Otto Flick.
The programme's unique feature is the clever and hilariously funny use of mixed-up French/ English words and accents in the dialogue.
