Burt Bacharach and Hal David were initially unexcited to write a song about a man named Alfie but Bacharach later cited it as one of his favourite compositions. It was recorded by Cilla Black and released in 1966 to promote the film of the same name and has since been covered by many singers including Cher, Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder, Barbara Streisand and Joss Stone.
This arrangement is very playable and would be a suitable addition to any concert programme.
