Derek Hasted writes "My arrangement of this slow and rather unusual piece captures the interesting choices of chords, and the roles of tune and accompaniment swap over to create extra interest for your duo and your audiences.

Here and there, the tune line has some easy bass notes underneath to thicken the texture and depth of the accompaniment.

The tune is syncopated, but a little rubato is just as effective as a completely precise rendition.

As the accompaniment rises above the tune here and there, it’s important not to be too loud - the dynamics that I’ve added are really just a pointer to which of the 2 lines is the more important - feel free to change or add to them...

There is limited fingering, but there’s some advantage to minimising the top open E string as it tends to cut through a little. But at the same time, you might find that the open strings ease the movement up and down the fingerboard, so please choose the fingering that works for you.

The original has 2 sections in which the Time Signature changes and there is a short and punchy drum break spanning 2 bars. I have written a bass break to match the drum rhythm. As alternatives you can tap the front of the guitar (or the wing of the bridge) with the side of your thumb to mimic the drum - see the X-headed notes - or you can simply omit the two bars. Just pick the one your duo feels works best for you.
