The melodic line is scored in both the bass clef and treble clef for a singer who can hit both baritone and countertenor notes. It can also be performed as a duet between a baritone and countertenor. Composed for the Christopher Caines Dance Company and first presented by members of that ensemble with original choreography by Christopher Caines in three performances at the Merce Cunningham Dance Studio, New York, on June 18, 19, and 20, 2004. The musicians at these performances were Alan Reinhardt, baritone/countertenor, and Tania Simoncelli, violoncello. Typically involves a solo dancer or small dance ensemble in performance as well. At the premiere performances this work was listed under the title Lady of Life. However, the composer prefers the original title, Aegupton, which is also the title of the original poem by Ezra Pound. Duration: 13:12

Includes two scores: one for soloist, one for instrumentalist.
