A Simple Processional 2-Part - Sheet Music
2-part choir, 2 C instruments

SKU: C5.3008

Composed by Hal Owen. Text: Tallis' Canon. Simple, 2-part anthem. General. Octavo. Published by CanticaNOVA Publications (C5.3008).

This simple but well-crafted and useful processional uses the familiar hymn tune, Tallis' Canon, and the traditional text for the refrain: "Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him all creatures here below; Praise him above, ye heav'nly host: Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost." The composer has set the Tallis melody as a 2-part canon, with obligato parts for 2 flutes (or other instruments), also in canon. Verses are taken from Psalm 150, using an original psalm tone. This double canon, while rich in structure and skill, is nonetheless very simple to perform. It would make an effective processional for any Mass or other service (e.g. A Thanksgiving ecumenical service, opening of a retreat, school liturgy).
