"A Day, A Life" is a percussion quartet commissioned by Shawnee Mission High School, KS. This piece has three larger sections, marked by fermatas in between, with each representing its own idea about life, but the composition as a whole has its own story. The first section is to represent they joy of a new life, and is to remind us that an abundance new life enters this world every day. The second reminds us that life comes not without dark times, confusion, disagreement, and struggle, sometimes within a life, sometimes within a day. However, these can be resolved, overcome, and when we do, we are free to enjoy the joys.
