Bartók's major 1931 composition 44 Duos for Two Violins combined folk music with contemporary elements in a unique and fascinating manner. To broaden their usefulness as pedagogical and performance opportunities, Langer has chosen 20 duos and arranged them for saxophone duo. Keeping the original keys allows his arrangements to be used with the original violin (UE010452a and UE010452b) and, for most of the duos, with his own arrangement for two clarinets (UE036992).
