use this bk 3, bk 4, them whistler
I like using this bk then the whistler bks with my students. You'll learn basic 3rd position on all strings. It makes it easier to teach and easier for the student to learn. Highest recommendation.

ABC's of Violin Bk 3
Wow; this book is great! starts out with spiccato and 4th finger extensions... trills, etc. turn to page 15 and begin learning doublestops. On page 17 you begin 3rd position -- exercises and songs on all strings. Complete with scales in the back of the book. Surprised I can do...

wonderful violin method books
everything in this advanced violin method book makes sense: the exercises, progression of pieces, introduction to 3rd position, etc. I've been using it with my students for 6 years and notice very quick progress right from the start. It's better than all other methods combined, especially as far as motivating...
