Lyric Preludes is an introduction to the whole Romantic period -- from Chopin and Schumann to Brahms and Debussy. Like Chopin, Gillock has written 24 preludes featuring all major and minor keys. But his preludes aren't just imitations of other composer's styles, they are valid, original works. An essential book for all pianists.

This title has selections that range in difficulty from SMP Level 4-5.

LYRIC PRELUDES, ROMANTIC STYLE

THese are beautifully written, short pieces in all 24 MAJOR/minor KEYS. Very creative writing, easy for students of modest ability to master in a reasonably short time. All different ,moods and tempos, from slow/tranquil to fast/tempetuos. My students love them; and, they are also useful to, say, church organists for...

Absolutely Wonderful!

William Gillock was a personal friend. His romantic composing in easier pieces is so refreshing. He is surely missed.

moving

Gillocks 'fountain of diana' is nothing less than beatiful. If properly played with the soul the reward is a feeling of something only the heart can touch.I strongly recomend this gorgous piece to those who love to feel music, not just play it.Beautifully done.

a gem

This collection of pieces by Gillock is a treasure. I have never seen a group of pieces organized this way; Major scale followed by one in the corresponding minor. He shows great versatility and creativity. I highly recommend it.
