Essential Technique Book
Wonderful book for intermediate oboe and saxophone study. This book works the fingers and the lower register (pinky keys) that so rarely get a workout. Excellent for oboe and saxophone. Highly recommended.

good solid book
I agree with the other reviewers. Good challenging stuff for high school or college oboe study. My only complaint is that after working on 5 or 6 of these etudes (and there are 48 altogether) they become stylistically monotonous and homogenous. I like to have my students study some of the Rubank Selected Studies stuff too, since that book contains works by different composers (including Ferling). Still, this book is worthwhile for anyone who wants to be an accomplished oboist. I would recommend mixing it up a bit though.
