Jean Baptiste Accolaӱ was born on the 17th April 1833 in Brussels. He studied violin at the Brussels Music Conservatory under Lambert Joseph Meerts and Nicolas Lambert Wery. After working as a solo hornist in the cuirassier regiment in Bruges and as a violinist in the theatre orchestra in Namur, he worked as a lecturer at the conservatory in Brussels where he taught violin, viola, string quartet and harmony. Accolaӱ died in Bruges on the 19th August 1990.
