Chatman's ability to mould choral beauty out of almost anything is evident in the plethora of great choral works in his output. This is no exception. Here each part plays an integral part in a flowing, undulation tapestry of melodic lines that combine rhythmically to make a homogenous whole...

. Its slightly polyphonic nature adds, perhaps, to the difficulty of the work, but this is a mere sacrifice for luminescent beauty. A great choice for any decent choir and a good chance to develop smooth uninterrupted choral lines.

I have heard of this composer before and his style is linear yet weaves a tonal picture. What at first appears to look like simple lines. later turns out to be beautifully complex. The notes on the page are simple, but the musical interpretaion and attention to syllabic stress are...

crucial. I recommend this piece for its moving style of relationship; music and text.
