World Sound Matters is an anthology of music from around the world, comprising of 58 traditional songs representing 35 different countries. It includes notated transcriptions of each song, explanatory texts covering the special context of each style and its musical content, 2 sets of progressive pupil listening-based questions for each musical style, and more. Each unit is free-standing and can be used effectively on its own. Alternatively, units can be combined to provide an introduction to the musical traditions of the world. The anthology is very well put together and is very valuable for teaching world music. The only problem is that you have to order everything separately and it does not come with the CD.
